What Are the Benefits of Microblading?

Let’s face it: Beautiful eyebrows are in the spotlight. From Youtube and Instagram to the beauty aisle of your local drugstore, it seems as though everyone is looking for secrets to getting the kind of eyebrows that elevate a person’s look.

Unless you’ve been genetically blessed with flawless eyebrows, it will be difficult to continually groom your brows or use expensive makeup to get the exact look you want. It adds considerable time to your daily routine – not to mention the results of all your hard work can disappear as soon as you work up a sweat!

If the above paragraph feels all-too-real for you, you could be a good candidate for microblading treatments. This treatment uses semi-permanent tattoo pigment to create eyebrows that can last for up to three years. The treatment itself is quick, straightforward, and will have you looking like you’re the Instagram queen of eyebrows.

  • Your eyebrows won’t smudge or disappear when you work up a sweat, so you’ll always look flawless at the gym, pool or beach.
  • The treatment session itself takes up to two hours, so you won’t have to take a significant amount of time off from work or play to have microblading performed.
  • The procedure is tailored to the specific eyebrow shape you want, as well as what works best for your face.
  • Microblading results can last for one to three years, meaning you’ll be able to make the most of your gorgeous new eyebrows.
  • The procedure is safe, and the tattoo pigment doesn’t disappear; it just loses saturation over the one to three years.

The Hydrafacial: What Can This Do For Me?

There’s no denying that there are so many skincare treatments out there.  From anti-wrinkle creams and acne extractions to laser skin peels and collagen-boosting injections, it seems like every complexion woe can be solved with a single treatment.

But what if you have more than one skin problem?

Introducing the HydraFacial at Accent Plastic Surgery

This is a great option for patients with limited time. The treatment only takes 30-45 minutes and there is no down time.

That’s why Accent Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Tupelo, MS, is pleased to announce the arrival of the HydraFacial – a unique treatment designed to improve your skin’s appearance by combining spa therapies with advanced medical technology.  The HydraFacial is a quick in-office procedure that requires no downtime, making this a perfect treatment for busy clients who want to maximize their skincare routine.

So how does the HydraFacial work?

The HydraFacial: Extraction, Hydration, Protection

The HydraFacial utilizes patented Vortex technology, which cleanses, exfoliates, and extracts impurities from the skin – all in one treatment.  The procedure – which is performed by licensed aesthetician Lory Schultz – follows four main steps:

  • Cleansing and Exfoliation: During this first step, the HydraFacial builds a foundation for your best skincare treatment. The device opens up your skin’s pores, allowing it to sweep away makeup, dead skin cells, and other impurities from your face.
  • Acid Peel: Once your skin is clean and purified with a 2% and end with a 7.5% folic acid, a glycolic acid peel can be upgreaded to 30%  can be applied to the skin.  This peel feels gentle on your skin, but it removes dead and dull skin.  Glycolic acid peels fade away the appearance of scars, fine lines, and brown spots.  Lory also adds a dermabuilder treatment, which can be used to stimulate collagen production and improve cell structure strength.
  • Extraction: After the peel, Lory uses a Vortex nozzle to extract impurities that can lead to acne and clogged pores. This is a gentle and thorough procedure, which can help produce clear and glowing skin.
  • Serum Application: At the end of the treatment, Lory applies an antioxidant and collagen-rich serum into the skin, which promotes long-term elasticity and collagen growth.

Will Voluma Make My Cheeks Fat?

If you’re looking for the most naturally youthful appearance possible, it’s likely you’ve stumbled across Juvederm Voluma during your research.  As we age, the face loses essential fats that are critical to maintaining youthful volume in the cheeks.  The end result is a hollow, drooping look that can’t be fixed with any anti-wrinkle cream or Botox injection.

That’s why more people are turning to Juvederm Voluma for younger-looking results that look incredibly natural.  Yet many people are afraid to introduce Voluma into their anti-aging regimen for one reason: they’re afraid it might make their cheeks look fat.

So does Voluma increase facial volume in an unflattering way – or will your cheeks look smooth and healthy?  Let’s find out!

All About Juvederm Voluma

This innovative treatment – which was recently approved by the FDA – is used to enhance volume and contouring in the facial area, particularly around the cheeks.  Voluma is comprised of a thicker hyaluronic acid gel; hyaluronic acid is a compound found naturally within the skin, which promotes the production of collagen and elastin.

Once injected into the cheeks, the thicker consistency of the gel is used to immediately increase the cheeks, promoting a more youthful look.  Results typically last for up to two years, which makes this one of the most low-maintenance anti-aging injections around.  What’s more, it has little to no side effects, which is one of the reasons why it was approved by the FDA.

But the question remains: Will it make your cheeks – and your face – look fat?

It Depends!

Like with most anti-aging treatments, your results will depend upon the professional who is administering the treatments.  For example, if an aesthetician is too heavy-handed with a Botox treatment, you might end up with the “frozen” face that’s a dead giveaway of Botox.  The same rule of thumb applies with Juvederm Voluma – if it’s administered by anyone other than a professional, you might not get the results you’re looking for.

That’s why you should entrust your face to Dr. Mark Craig of Accent Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Tupelo, Mississippi.  As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Craig has the insight, experience, and subtle touch that can help produce the most natural-looking results.

How to Find the Right Sunscreen

Summer is officially here – and that means it’s time to enjoy barbeques, pool parties, and concerts underneath cloudless blue skies.  Of course, summertime also means that you’ll need to be more vigilant about your sun care than ever before – otherwise, you might end up getting the kind of sunburns that can later lead to brown spots, hyperpigmentation, discoloration, and even skin cancer.

That’s why, no matter what your plans for the summer might be, it’s important to find the right sunscreen for your skin. But with so many options lining the shelves of your local drugstore, it might seem like a confusing – if not impossible – project.  How do you know which sunscreen you should buy? What ingredients should you look out for?

Wonder no more – because you’ve just found your ultimate guide to finding the right sunscreen for your skin:

  • Most sunscreens contain any combination of six active ingredients, all of which act as filters to block the sun’s UV (ultraviolet) rays from damaging your skin. When you go outside without sun protection on, you have about ten to twenty minutes before your skin starts to burn.  Once a sunburn happens, you’ve already damaged your skin, thus increasing your risk for hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and even skin cancer.

When shopping for sunscreen, make sure you find a bottle that contains a combination of two of the following:  oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, zinc oxide, and/or titanium dioxide.  If you’re looking for the most natural sunscreen possible – without sacrificing coverage – opt for the last two on this list.

  • Make sure you’re choosing an SPF of 30 or higher. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor – and it’s an accurate measurement of how strong the sunscreen will be in protecting your skin against UV rays.  The higher the SPF, the more protected your skin will be.  If you opt for anything lower than an SPF of 30, there’s a good chance you’ll still end up with sun-damaged skin.
  • Repeat after us: There’s no such thing as waterproof sunscreen!  Whenever you swim or sweat, you’ll need to reapply your sunscreen.  You should also reapply after every hour spent out in the sun.

If you’re looking for the best sunscreen – one that won’t clog your pores or make you feel sticky – check out our line of sunscreen at Accent Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Tupelo, Mississippi today! Call (662) 377-6290 for more information.
