Non-surgical body contouring has rapidly gained popularity among many men and women, and for a good reason. Patients can get a slimmer physique by targeting diet and exercise resistant fat. But, differentiating technologies can be difficult even for medical practitioners.

Both Body FX and CoolSculpting offer exceptional results with minimal discomfort or downtime. However, that’s about where the similarities end. So, which is better and what’s right for you? Today, we’ll take a closer look at each to help you through the decision-making process.

How Does Non-Invasive Body Contouring Work?

Each procedure is designed to effectively target localized fat pockets. CoolSculpting uses fat-freezing technology to crystallize fat cells. Body FX pairs radiofrequency wavelengths and thermal energy to effectively break down fat cells deep below the surface of the skin. After treatment, the body will naturally metabolize damaged cells flushing them from the body.

What Can I Expect from Body Contouring Treatments?

Both body contouring treatments are done in-office. Most patients tolerate the procedures quite well and spend the treatment catching up on emails, reading, or simply relaxing. While CoolSculpting typically takes about 35 minutes per area, Body FX can be done in as little as 15 minutes per area.

Is There Any Downtime with Body Contouring?

Neither procedure requires any time for recovery. Side effects are minor and typically short-lived. Patients can head back to work or their normal routine directly after treatment. You may experience slight swelling, redness, tenderness, and in rare cases bruising following fat reduction procedures.

When Will I See Results with Body FX?

Results from non-invasive body contouring are gradual and progressive. Initial results from both procedures can be seen in about 2-weeks. Body FX works slightly faster because treatments are often spaced just 1-week apart. An optimal outcome from CoolSculpting will be noticeable in about 2-4 months.

Aside from fat reduction, Body FX also has the added benefit of skin tightening. CoolSculpting is not currently FDA-approved for anything other than body contouring.

How Many Body Contouring Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients see significant improvement after just one CoolSculpting session. However, some patients are so happy with the results that they wand additional treatments to get the ultimate results. Body FX can take up to3-6 sessions for an optimal outcome to fully be realized.

Body FX Vs. CoolSculpting: Which Is Best?

Both procedures have advantages over the other. Body FX may be more beneficial for patients who want to achieve fat reduction but also have moderate skin laxity. CoolSculpting might be your best bet if your schedule doesn’t allow weekly visits to complete your treatments. During your in-person consultation, one of our aestheticians will walk you through all of your options in-depth.
