A balanced ratio between your breasts and hips can mean feeling confident and comfortable in your skin. If there is an imbalance due to small breasts, it can lead to insecurity. Dr. Mark Craig at Accent Plastic Surgery has the skills and expertise to help you achieve the balance you have always wanted with breast augmentation.

How Does Breast Augmentation Work?

While the idea of a breast augmentation is simple, the variety of techniques and types of implants have expanded significantly as technology has improved. With Dr. Craig’s guidance, you will be able to choose the techniques and implant styles that will best suit your body type and goals.

Size of implant is not the only consideration. Saline or silicone implants can impact how natural your new breasts look and feel. The shape of the implants—round or teardrop—can also make a difference.

Am I a Good Candidate?

If the size of your breasts is a source of discomfort or insecurity for you, and you are in general good health, a breast augmentation may be just the solution. A comprehensive consultation at Accent Plastic Surgery can get you started.

5 Tips for Recovery from Breast Augmentation

Recruit help.

Before your breast augmentation, make arrangements for a loved one to drive you home. If they can stay for the first day, that will help in the immediate hours following your surgery when you are most vulnerable. Fill any prescriptions in advance and set up your recovery area on a couch or bed so you have somewhere to relax immediately.

Pre-plan your meals.

Right after your procedure, you will not be feeling like cooking or even eating much. Keep light snacks close at hand to minimize any nausea and keep up your strength. While short stints of mobility are good for blood circulation, you do not want to overdo it. Having meals that reheat quickly and are nutrient dense will keep you going until you feel well enough to resume your normal mealtime routines.

Get plenty of rest.

This may sound obvious, but for some people, it is surprisingly difficult to truly relax while you recuperate. If not doing chores for at least the first 72 hours will be stressful, recruit help from a loved one or even a hired service. Your body needs time to heal, and if you expend energy elsewhere, your recovery will take longer.

Follow all instructions carefully.

You will have wound care instructions as well as a timeline for when it is safe to resume activities. Avoid lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for up to 6 weeks. Prop yourself on pillows to minimize pain and provide support. Wear any specialized garments Dr. Craig recommends for the required period of time.

Be patient with yourself.

You have just undergone a significant procedure, and you will likely feel less than 100% for a while. If you need to, delay your return to work and social commitments. Everybody heals at their own pace. Celebrating your new breasts will happen when the time is right. Until then, pamper yourself.
